Fight night.

I went to the gym on Tuesday night to attempt to tackle Week 2, Day 1 of C25K. I started off fine, but after about 10 minutes, my left shin and ankle started to hurt. The most important thing I’ve learned is to listen to your body, so I dialed back the dreadmill and tried to walk it … Continue reading

Monday Weigh-in.

I lost 4 pounds this week for a total loss of 5.2 pounds since I’ve started this blog.  Go me! Admittedly, my legs are a little sore from my walk/run yesterday, but I’m really looking forward to another Zumba class with L tonight.

Before you run, you must walk.

I’ll admit it.  I skipped my Zumba class yesterday morning. Sure, I felt a little guilty about it, but I was able to do a little gardening and take care of some spring cleaning.  I can’t feel guilty as long as I was productive, right?  Plus, I knew that I would what in store for … Continue reading

Hot damn.

It was so hot in my Zumba class tonight that by the end of class my face matched my shirt. See?

128 Days

I completed W1D2 of the C25K plan last night.  I was able to pick up the pace a little bit and push myself to jog a 1/2 MPH faster than I had the previous day.  I was only able to do that for a few of the running intervals, but at least it’s something!  To be honest, … Continue reading

Workout buddies.

It is really nice to have a workout buddy.  It makes working out a bit more fun and encourages you push yourself just a bit further!  A friend of mine (Hi L!) joined me on Monday night for Zumba and liked it so much that she signed up for the next session with me.  She said that knowing … Continue reading

My (hopefully) soon to be fleet feet.

I now own a custom fit pair of running sneakers. Many thanks to Sean at Fleet Feet in West Hartford.  I am so impressed how much time he spent with me to make sure I had the best shoe for me.  Well worth the trip! I am really excited to test these babies out. Unfortunately … Continue reading

May 14th

Today is a very important day to me. It has more importance than my birthday or any holiday. Today marks two years that I have been in remission. Two years! I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) in February of 2005 at age 23. Six months later I started treatment – daily doses of … Continue reading

Coincidence?

Tonight, my Zumba instructor wore a t-shirt that said, “Feel the Music.” Oh I felt it…kicking my ass for an entire hour. So sweaty…must…shower…

Just say no!

Today I successfully resisted the evil temptress that is The Cheese Truck – a truck in New Haven that serves grilled cheese.  It happens to be parked just a block or so from my office and is offering a yummy feta with summer squash, eggplant and zucchini grilled cheese.  Sounds healthy, right?  Add butter and thick … Continue reading
